Oh, I love me a podcast. Whether I’m working, walking the dog or sometimes even chilling in the bath, part of me wonders what I ever did before I discovered them. They’re an integral part of my self-care routine and I find them a great way to help me concentrate, take my mind off things and unwind – all depending on the content of course. I was going to do a HUGE bumper podcast post but the reality is, there are three I’m subscribed to that as soon as I see a new episode has gone live, I drop everything and instantly want to listen to it. Rather than bombard you with my whole sub box, I thought I would share the ones I listen to religiously.
Ugh, this podcast is honestly incredible and I’m not just saying that because I’m a bit of an Oprah stan. Not only is it hosted by one of the most inspirational women in the world, Oprah has incredible guests on each week. It is an interview format and all her guests are all inspirational in their own different ways. From actors and authors and celebrities of all different backgrounds, Oprah gets her guests talking about their lives, share personal stories and what they’ve learned in life. I normally listen to this when I’m looking to switch off. I love listening to celebrity interviews and the calibre of guests Oprah has on the Masterclass is phenomenal. From Stevie Nicks to Maya Angelou – if I had to only listen to one podcast again, I would pick this. BOLD CLAIM. But, 100% true. I couldn’t recommend this one enough.
One podcast I cannot wait to listen to when it arrives in my subscriptions is Adulting, presented by Oenone Forbat. This is just a great general podcast all about you guessed it, Adulting. It features interviews and explores what it means to be an adult. It covers some real controversial topics at times but it is done very sensitively and gives you great insight into different subjects. I find this one really relatable and feels like it is listening to a friend. I normally listen to this when I’m working or have it on while I’m cleaning. It is easy listening but one that is a real gem in the world of podcasts.
There seems to be a running theme that I love interview podcasts isn’t there? Well, they are my favourite and this one is no exception. A fairly new discovery, well one I’ve found in the last six months, that I completely adore. Elizabeth Day is an amazing interviewer, always knowing when and how to ask the right questions. Her guests are all different in many ways and each interview is very engaging. I’ve taken away some real words of wisdom from this podcast and it reassures me that we all don’t have it together as much as it seems. I love this one and can’t recommend it enough.
These are the three podcasts I reach for most. They are all incredible in their different ways but each has their own special qualities. Other notable podcasts are The High Low, Ctrl Alt Delete and Overnight Success. As the weeks go by, I find myself subscribing to more and more podcasts and I’m always welcome to recommendations.
